KIGAM at ASOMM+3 Meeting

Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) was invited to the 「12th ASEAN Senior Official Meeting on Minerals Plus Three Consultation」, which is well-known for ASOMM+3 as the representative Geoscience R&D organization of Korea. KIGAM has participated the ASOMM+3 Meeting since the beginning of the meeting since 2008; however, KIGAM was almost only the exclusive participant as to attend the meetings over the years, and it was difficult to act influentially as the singular attendee of Korea. 

In 2019, Mr. Kwangseob MUN from Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy(MOTIE) as the leading representative of the Korean delegates, Mr. Keunoh PARK from the Mission of the ROK to ASEAN, and KIGAM staffs participated this meeting. Comparing to the previously years, this year is more special because the members from the Korean government also joined to show the rest of the ASEAN Member country how much Korea wants to cooperate together with the Southern Asian Countries.

KIGAM, as the main action carrier for the ASEAN Member Countries, presented about the next phase for the ASOMM+3 Working Group. With the KIGAM’s advanced Geoscience R&D and accumulated Geotechnology, KIGAM was able to offer a specially designed Geo-education programs for the ASEAN Member Countries, and other joint Geo R&D.

As the key international parter to KIGAM, proactive collaborations with the ASEAN Member Counties are becoming more important.
