The 76th CCOP Steering Committee (SC) Virtual Meeting
The 76th CCOP Steering Committee (SC) was held virtually on July 7, 2021. As we are still struggling from the COVID-19 with the rest of the CCOP Member Countries, the CCOP Technical Secretariat (T/S) and Steering Committee (SC) had no choice but to hold the meeting virtually.
The main agendas to discuss were progress reports of 2020-2021, budget, a new template for member country reports, reports about the preparations of future Annual Sessions, and Steering Committee Meetings in both 2021 and 2022.
Moving from the serial discussing items, the CCOP T/S and SC faced the upcoming elections of the next CCOP Steering Committee Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, and CCOP T/S Director. Also, there was an announcement for the CCOP T/S Regional Expert recruitment.
During the discussion on vacant positions for the COOP Steering Committee, the representatives of the COOP Member Countries voted Dr. Li Jinfa from China Geological Survey (CGS) as the Chairperson.
As for the KIGAM, we support the current CCOP T/S Director, Dr. Young Joo Lee, to serve consecutive terms starting from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2025. Considering his enthusiasm, today’s global pandemic inevitably put a hold on his passion for CCOP developments. Hopefully, his next term serves to execute many of the working plans for the CCOP.
