AIRBORNE SURVEYS IN KOREA
KIGAM
KIGAM has a long-term history with regard to airborne surveys since the 1980s, and currently we are extending airborne geophysical surveys to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). For helicopter-borne surveys, KIGAM has been mapping all magnetic anomalies and radioelements, covering the entire southern part of the Korean Peninsula by means of three three-axis boom-type G822A cesium magnetometers (Fig. 1). Specifically, during 2018, with this system a precise exploration was conducted to analyze the distribution of iron orebodies (Fig. 2). In addition, a custom-made airship magnetic survey system was applied to explore new mineral body distributions in rugged mountainous terrain, with meaningful results obtained (Fig. 3).
