GEO-ANALYSIS CENTER

PROVIDING ANALYSIS SERVICES AND TESTING FOR GEOLOGICAL RESOURCES  

The Geo-analysis Center conducts inorganic analyses of mineral elements and geological resources as well as underground and thermal water using ICP-MS, XRF, TIMS, and corrosion analysis methods. In 2019, analysis services for a total of 15,311 samples for both domestic and foreign clients were provided by the Geo-Analysis Center of KIGAM. Recognized as a certified international testing agency by the KOLAS-ILAC, the qualification of KOLAS for technical laboratory competence was maintained through regular evaluations in 2019.  

IMPROVEMENT OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION WITH ANALYSIS SERVICES OF GEO-ANALYSIS CENTER  

Customer satisfaction with analysis service provided by Geo-Analysis Center has been surveyed via on-line analysis support system every year. In 2019, the Geo-Analysis Center achieved high improvement of customer satisfaction compared with the previous year. 75% and 20% of customers answered ‘very satisfied’ and ‘satisfied’, respectively, to the survey of customer satisfaction. Survey was conducted by the research organization “Research Lab”. The Geo-Analysis Center also got a score of 91.8, an improvement of 6.3 compared to the previous year’s survey, and the highest score since survey by external organization started in 2004.  

OFFICIAL REGISTRATION AND ASSESSMENT OF METEORITES  

Since April of 2015, the Meteorite Registration Center has operated for official registration and traceability management of meteorites. Assessment service for meteorites is also provided for the general public in order to find and register meteorites in Korea. In 2019, assessment services were provided for 1290 rock samples suspected of being meteorites. Among them, 17 meteorites including stony, iron, and stony-iron meteorite types were identified and a stony meteorite, NWA 12215, was registered with the Meteorite Registration Center.
