DEVELOPMENT OF UHR (ULTRA-HIGH-RESOLUTION) 3D MARINE SEISMIC TECHNOLOGY

KIGAM has developed a UHR 3D seismic surveying system EOS3D (Engineering Ocean Seismic 3D) that can be operated on small vessels, and is conducting joint research projects with Korean surveying companies (Geoview and Gematek). The survey system developed through this project is divided into a streamer-type system, which is a reduction type of a conventional large seismic exploration system, and a wing-type system, which is an extension type of a conventional single-channel sub-bottom profiler. Through the seismic survey conducted to verify the performance of the developed system in offshore Pohang, various shallow geological structures including surface-related faults are visualized in 3D using 2.5 m grid resolution.
