ICT-BASED MINING AND MINERAL PROCESSING RESEARCH

ICT-based Mining and Mineral Processing Research Team is organized to develop mining modernization technology for the Kumdeok lead-zinc mine in North Korea. The purpose of mining field is economic analysis of a mine, and design/manufacture of a dust collector for mine ventilation. The mineral processing field focuses on the development of optimized flotation process and real-time monitoring system.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

• Research on economic analysis of an open-pit mine and CFD analysis of a dust collector for designing

• Development of optimal flotation process for Kumdeok lead-zinc mine considering the correlation of minerals and reagents

• Development of flotation monitoring system using various sensor and machine vision system

MAIN RESULTS IN 2019

• Fulfillment of mine evaluation for an open-pit mine

• Design of a dust collector and flotation cell by using validation of CFD

• Establishment of mineral processing condition: grinding and flotation, to improve concentrate grade and recovery of concentrate for Kumdeok lead-zinc ore

• Design of flotation monitoring system to recognize and control the operating condition with using machine vision and image analyzing processing based on ICT
