Research team aims to develop a customized beneficiation process for rare earth minerals from North Korea, develop smart hydrometallugical processes by converging IoT/ICT and A.I(artificial intelligence) systems, and develop low-cost materialization processes that can produce magnetic powder directly from high purity solutions obtained from the smelting process.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
• Development of smart hydrometallurgical technology for manufacturing of the high purity rare earth solution from rare earth resource from North Korea through A.I control system with IoT/ICT technology
• Performance of research on a novel process to synthesize magnetic powder using refined solution containing Neodymium obtained in an intermediate step in the smelting of North Korean rare earth (RE) resources and study of core technology for compaction and sintering of magnetic powder
MAIN RESULTS IN 2019
• Development of mineral process for rare earth ore from Jungju in North Korea
• Development of smart hydrometallugical process technology through on-line monitoring and A.I control
• Enhancement of magnetic property of magnetic powder by removal of impurities and investigation of sintering/post-sintering annealing process
