I am writing to your esteemed organizationto inquire about the possibility of obtaining samples of slate from certainregions. My name is Chiou-ting Lin. I am a PhD in geology and currentlyemployed by the research center of cultural heritage science, bureau ofcultural affairs of Tainan city government in Taiwan.
Recently, we have discovered what appearsto be slate roof tiles from north Korea in some of the historic buildings inTaiwan that remain from the Japanese colonial period. The new discovery is ofvery importance to us, and we would like to conduct further research on thistopic.
According to historical s from1915, the slate may have come from Shunchuan county(순천군,順川郡) and Jiachuan couty (개천군,价川郡) in south Pyongan province(평안남도,平安南道), as well as from Pungsan county(평산군,平山郡) in Hwanghae province(황해도,黃海道). We are writing to inquire if your institution has any samples ofslate from these regions, and if they are available for international researchpurposes.
