Dr. Ho Wan Chang, the president of Korea Institute of Geoscience & Mineral Resources (KIGAM), proclaimed KIGAM's a-brand-new logo (Company Identification: CI) for leaping toward greater challenges of tomorrow on the 91st ceremony of KIGAM's founding anniversary last May 8, 2009.

For commemorating such event, many special and important guests are from related organizations such as Korea Research Council for Industrial Science & Technology, Korea National Oil Corporation, Korea Gas Corporation, and Korea Institute of Marine Science & Technology Promotion, and from the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy to witness declaration process of new logo.

Dr. Chang, the president of KIGAM, emphasized that proclamation of the new logo of KIGAM was for a newer and more efficient organizational networks. The new CI contains various meanings and interpretations. The Letter "G", in the initial, stands for “Geoscience”, "Green Growth", and "Global Institute", and it is expressed dynamically by symbolizing KIGAM's future visions, contributions, and social roles as the prominent research institute. The elliptical belt around the letter "G" stands for the earthly figure, the green color is for the greener earth, and yellow-orange color is for warmer energy sources.

As the new CI stands, KIGAM is going to be the leading institute for smart utilization of energy sources and greener earth preservation on co-existances at the same time
