Petroleum and Future Energy Research Center
The Petroleum and Future Energy Research Center contributes to the energy transition through research on hydrocarbon exploration·evaluation and development·production. Recently, the Center has been carrying out research on hydrocarbon potential in Korean offshore water, natural hydrogen systems, and the production and underground storage of blue hydrogen. Along with developing AI-integrated resource exploration, the Center is aiming to keep up with rapidly evolving global trends in technology.
Research Areas
- Development of High-resolution 3D basin modeling for evaluating hydrocarbon potential.
- Development of multi-scale geological modeling and gas migration simulation techniques
- Development of low-carbon reservoir operation technology for blue hydrogen production
- Development of Artificial intelligence-based characterization and prediction of subsurface properties.
- Development of reservoir and caprock evaluation technologies for the carbon-reducing conversion of depleted offshore oil and gas fields
