Resources Recycling Research Center
The Resource Recycling Research Center focuses on the recovery and high-value utilization of secondary resources such as spent batteries, fuel cells, electronic waste, and smelting by-products. Through the development of low-carbon, eco-friendly mineral beneficiation and metallurgical process technologies, the center contributes to advancing the circular economy and securing national self-sufficiency in critical metals.
Major Activities

Development of high-efficiency metal recovery technologies from waste generated by next-generation mobility systems such as electric and hydrogen vehicles
* Target resources: Electric vehicle batteries (Li, Ni), fuel cell MEAs (Pt) -
Development of eco-friendly hydrometallurgical and electrochemical refining processes for secondary resources
* Target resources: E-waste (PCB, Au, PGMs), and smelting by-products (Ga, Ge) - Battery recycling technology transferred
- Selected as one of the Top 20 Environmental Technology Achievements of 2024 (EV battery recycling)
- Development of original technology for recycling neodymium (Nd)-based rare earth magnets
- Development of high-efficiency platinum LX-SX integrated process and high-purity recovery technology
