The Quaternary Geology Research Department holds "The 3rd International Geoscience Symposium" from 4th to 8th, March 2015, inviting 9 professors and 21 students from prestigious universities in Japan such as Kyushu Univ., Hokkaido Univ., Toho Univ., Ibaraki Univ and Kumamoto Univ.

"The 3rd International Geoscience Symposium" has been organized to provide a platform on which young scientists and students can share their new ideas with one another and discuss ways for collaboration in the future.

Dr. Joong Ho Synn, Vice president of KIGAM, said that KIGAM is the only geological research institute in Korea with a very long history of 97 years. Dr. Synn added that scientists who are second to none in the field of geology are dedicated to their research at KIGAM, and that KIGAM will always do its best to collaborate with related research institutes and universities from abroad.

This symposium lasts 5 days from 4th to 8th of March. All the participants arrived in Daejeon on the 4th of March, and attended a seminar held at Nuri Hall in IS-GEO of KIGAM on March 5th. They are planning to go on a field excursion, visiting the Gomso Bay, Chatan-ri area on the 6th, and Hallyeohaesang National Park, Goseong Dinosaur Museum on the 7th(Sat). They are scheduled to go back to Japan on March 8th, taking a flight at Gimhae International Airtport located in Busan.
