Collaboration Certificate Signing Ceremony

between KIGAM and CO2CRC



“Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM)” signed a Certificate of Collaboration on CCUS* with “CO2CRC” on October 6, 2022 at the second K-CCUS conference in Seoul to forge deeper international ties to accelerate the implementation of CCUS technologies. Dr. Pyeong-Koo Lee, the President of KIGAM and Dr. Matthias Raab, the CEO of CO2CRC graced the signing ceremony with their presence.



CO2CRC is a world-leading CCUS research institute in Australia, with over 20 years of experiences of safely capturing, storing and monitoring CO₂. KIGAM has joined CO2CRC as a member institute since 2008 and has been actively working as a member for 11 years old. Dr. Matthias Raab mentioned that “this collaboration strengthens the relationship between both nations and opens up new opportunities for technology developments across the CCUS value chain, including ‘transboundary CCS*’, and the international trading of CO₂.”



Dr. Pyeong-Koo Lee said that “KIGAM is playing a vital role in the CCUS industry at the national level especially in the field of carbon capture and utilization,” on behalf of KIGAM. Also, he added that “As the CCUS industry develops further, we are expecting more attention and support from CO2CRC for technological business model development in relation to CCUS.”
