As the demand for research data utilization rapidly increases due to the shift to a data-centric science and technology paradigm, the GDR Center aims to serve as a repository center that can comprehensively collect, manage, preserve, share, and utilize data such as geological (land/sea) drill cores, rock data, geological specimens, and records.

Dr. Pyeong-Koo Lee, President of KIGAM said, “We must safely preserve geological research data of great historical and academic value through the GDR Center, prevent data loss, and respond quickly to various research and social issues,” and “We also have to lead open science in the geological resource field by creating an environment where researchers can share data and conduct collaborative research.”

KIGAM plans to continue to work to create social value, such as the safety and convenience of human lives, in various fields, from resource development to geological disasters, based on geological resource data.
