President Pyeong-Koo Lee said in his New Year's address, "Last year, KIGAM achieved many results despite the R&D budget cuts and the expansion of policies to strengthen resource security. There were significant achievements such as hosting the Critical Minerals Forum 2024 and launching the Critical Minerals Technology Sharing Council, observation of gamma-ray bursts using the gamma-ray spectrometer (KGRS) onboard korea's first lunar probe Danuri, the launch of Tamhae-III and the development of waste electric battery recycling technology."

He continued, "This year is the first year of the 2025-2030 basic project, and we must do our best to carry out major tasks such as resolving national geological resource issues and developing 12 national strategic technologies. At this important turning point, with changes in the global resource market, the implementation of the Special Act on Resource Security, and the inauguration of the MSP chair country, we must establish a regular cooperation system with resource-rich countries and domestic companies to achieve results in securing resources."

After the official ceremony, President Lee and key officials shook hands with all employees and exchanged New Year’s wishes and words of encouragement. Employees expressed their will to contribute to the development of KIGAM in the new year.
