Geo-ICT Convergence Research Team KIGAM

The Geo-ICT Convergence Research Team is conducting R&D activities focusing on the integration of geoscience and IT to help resolve pressing problems in relation to geo-disasters, the geo-environment, and mineral resources. Currently, the core technologies for the geo-disaster response platform, including an IoT/AI-assisted surveillance system, computational analyses based on physics-oriented data and ML, VR-based geo-disaster response planning, and similar plans are under development. For the sake of monitoring, diagnosis, prognosis and control geosystem in real-time, Geo-ICT Convergence Research Team is also conducting researches on designing and developing a framework of Geo-CPS system based on the integration of ubiquitous sensor network, digital twinning, and simulation-based automated decision-making system. The main objective of Geo-ICT integration is to enhance public acceptance of geoscience activities, to realize the coevolution of geoscience and civil society, and to strengthen public services.
