The Geoscience Data Center has built a smart geo-data platform that can convert research data into big data and promote sharing and utilization for the systematic collection, management, preservation and efficient utilization of large and important geological resource-related research data. The goal is to provide highly reliable data that can respond quickly to current issues. The Geoscience Data Center is committed to the timely provisioning of reliable data in order to respond effectively to threats to national security, global environmental changes, and shortages of mineral resources. The Center works to secure strategic materials and develop future energy resources. It serves as the national data center (NDC) of the geoscience sector, providing consumer-oriented, high-quality data that is essential for national, social and public needs. The Geoscience Data Center also focuses on the construction of a geoscience database and related web services provided through the cross-platform geoscience information system (https://mgeo.kigam.re.kr), and on the development of GIS and remote sensing techniques.
