KIGAM held a kick-off ceremony for the New Year on January 4th, 2010. All members of KIGAM family participated in the ceremony and Dr. Ho-Wan Chang, the president of KIGAM, delivered his new year speech during the ceremony. On his speech, he encouraged all the staffs to work together for the KIGAM to become a brand leader in the field of geoscience and technology in 2010.  

 Dear all KIGAM members and our friends!

 A New Year full of hope has just come to us. I wish the new year of 2010 will be full of joy and happiness for you & your family and your dreams will come true as well.

 Last year, we all had tough time due to the world economic crisis. However, we have a good news that Korea has made the most rapid economic recovery among OECD member nations. 
 In this situation, all of the government-funded research institutes including KIGAM should not hesitate to participate in bringing innovation and replacing old conceptions in order to become the leading institutes in the new opening of knowledge based era.

 In particular, one necessity of KIGAM continuing its growth in this highly competitive world is to improve research efficiency compared to the R&D investment. Besides, challenging KIGAM to creating high achievements based on global standards  is also necessary. I know this is a long way to go, but I'm sure that we are capable to achieve all these necessities and KIGAM will eventually be able to jump up to one of the leading research institutes in the world.
