RESEARCH DIVISION
Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources
To achieve carbon neutrality, the Climate Change Response Research efficiently responds to climate change based on CO2 underground storage and mineral carbonization. To predict the impact of future climate change on the Korean Peninsula's surface environment, the research studies the quaternary environment change to establish a response strategy.
Major Achievements
  • Development of Promising Structure and Geological Model for Large-Scale CO2 Underground Storage Candidates
  • Development of mineral carbonization technology using industrial byproducts (slag, waste gypsum, etc.)
  • Construction of DB for basinbased groundwater specialization factors and information map preparation
  • Study on the Climate change (Temperature, Precipitation) in Southern part of the Korean peninsula
