Introduction

To preserve sustainable underground water and heat, the Groundwater Environment Research Center promotes technology to predict groundwater fluctuations due to climate and environmental changes to reduce and prevent pollution, and to evaluate groundwater dependent ecosystems. The Center prepares groundwater information maps for each region and presents a promising source of large-capacity groundwater intake to establish measures for water shortage areas and contribute to improving people's lives.

Major Activities

  • Construction of a DB system for groundwater specialization factors in the Geumgang River area and preparation of information maps
  • Establishment of the convergence monitoring and evaluation system for groundwater-surface water interaction
  • Development of characterization technology for high-resolution hydraulics of underground fluidic behavior based on the drillig method
  • Development of the geothermal cooling and heating system for open/closed converged ground heat exchanger
