MOU Signing Ceremony

with

British Geological Surveys, UK (BGS)

 

Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) President Dr. Kyu Han Kim signed the MOU with British Geological Surveys of UK (BGS) Executove Director John Ludden on March 31st in Nottingham, UK.

 

The both organizations reached in agreements for cooperating CO2 storage research with the Korea-EU Bilateral Research Program. Also, the quaternary period and marine study are the common interests.

 

BGS was established in 1835 with longest history in geosciences research field, KIGAM-BGS cooperation began since 1971 as the part of ‘Science & Technology Cooperation Support Program’ of the UK.

 

The official ceremony began with the welcoming remark by the Executve Director of BGS, Dr. John Ludden. Dr. Kyu Han Kim, the president of KIGAM, replied with the amicable thank remark. During the meeting, the both parties were discussing with the bilateral research agendas.

 

After the official meeting, the KIGAM party were guided to the National Geological Repository (NGR) of BGS, and they benchmarked about the outstanding record system for the various core samples, field notes, and other materials.
