The Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources(President: Kim Kyu Han, “KIGAM”) participated in the IAH 2014 held in Marrakesh, Morocco from September 15(Mon) through September 19(Fri) to promote its intent to hosting the next IAH congress in South Korea.

IAH(International Association of Hydrogeologists) is one and only world society acting in the field of developing, and preserving and maintaining groundwater resources, with about 4,000 members in 135 countries around the world. The regular congress, the largest one among IAH events, is held every year by selecting a host country among member countries.

KIGAM plans on attracting the regular IAH congress to be held in South Korea(Daejeon) in 2018 marking the 100 th  anniversary of the institute. In this regard, KIGAM installed a booth in the exhibition hall of IAH 2014 this year for the progressive promotion of hosting the next congress. The KIGAM booth was inspired with Korean traditional architectural style and lanterns with a red-and-blue silk shade(known in Korean as  Cheongsachorong ). Besides, the booth had a photo zone to help visitors take a photo with KIGAM agents in Korean traditional clothes( hanbok ), which enjoyed tremendous popularity among other exhibition booths.

Meanwhile, the venue of IAH 2018 will be determined in the 42 nd  IAH Congress to be held in Rome, Italy next year.
