KIGAM, with have a meeting with GSC for the joint exploration of the Arctic Circle

The Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (“KIGAM”) had a meeting with the Geological Survey of Canada(GSC) at the National Resources of Canada(NRC) located in Ottawa, Canada on 22nd (Mon) this month to discuss the exploration of oil and gas resources in the Arctic Circle, the evaluation of rare mineral resources and rare earth natural resources, and studies on paleoclimate and environmental change; which was held as a one of the main agendas in the Korea-Canada high-level talks.

Both institutions agreed at this meeting to intensify their work cooperation in the following fields: geology and geological information; exploration and evaluation of mineral resources; oil and gas, and marine energy resources; groundwater and geothermal resources; the exploration and evaluation of oil and gas energy, and mineral resources in the Arctic Circle; and joint studies on paleoclimate and environmental change. In addition, the parties are willing to promote the activation of energy and resource cooperation and the enhancement of scientific technology R&D and expert exchanges between the two countries.
