KOREA INSTITUTE OF GEOSCIENCE AND MINERAL RESOURCES

Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (Dr. Kyu Han Kim, the President of KIGAM) and Geological Survey of Canada (Dr. Daniel Lebel, Director General of GSC) signed the MOU on February  

12th of 2015 here at KIGAM. Contents of the MOU include mutual research cooperation, 

exchange of experts and so on. This is a follow-up step after the state visit of the President of South Korea,  

Park Geun-hye, to Canada back in September 2014. 
 
Through the MOU, KIGAM and GSC agreed on joint research areas as the followings: (1) Geology and Geo-
information (2) Mineral Resources Exploration and Assessment (3) Petroleum and Gas Energy Resources
 (4) Groundwater and Geothermal Resources (5) Artic Research on Energy & Mineral Exploration and Asse
ssment (6) Paleoclimate and Environment Changes.
 
In addition, Dr. Kyu Han Kim, the President of KIGAM, mentioned that future co-joint research work through
the MOU between KIGAM and GSC are going to bear fruitful results related to the Arctic study.
