Cerebrating KIGAM’s 103rd Anniversary

The Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM, acting president Dr. Kwang-Eun Kim) held a reward ceremony to commemorate the KIGAM’s 103rd anniversary of its founding on September 10, 2021. Since 2020, two years in a row, we are very cautious to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the ceremony was reduced to a reward ceremony.

The awards were the commendation from the Chairperson of the National Research Council of Science & Technology (NST) and KIGAM president's commendations on KIGAM Researcher of the Year, MBO* Excellent Department Award, Administrative Satisfaction Award.

‘The KIGAM Researcher of the Year Award’ was awarded to Dr. Yongjae Kim, the first Korean to be appointed as the vice president of the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH), the world's only international conference in the field of groundwater.

The MBO Outstanding Department Award, which created excellent research results, was awarded to the Advanced Geo-Materials Research Department, Convergence Research Center for Development of Mineral Resources, and Geo-Environmental Hazard Research Center. The Outstanding Administrative Awards went to the Organizational Culture Change Department, Budget Department, and Accounting and Finance Department.

After the awards, a congratulatory video remark by the NST Chairperson, Dr. Kim Bok Chul, was followed, and the virtual Commemorating Ceremony ended with the group photo.
