The 1st IAH Vice President Elected in Asia

 


Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (Acting President Dr. Kim, Kwang-Eun, KIGAM) would like to bring good news that Dr. Kim, Yongje (Principal Researcher, Geological Environment Research Division) was voted for the 1st IAH Vice President in Asia. Dr. Kim is going to serve his Vice Presidency for the next three years starting from September 1, 2021.

 

Dr. Yongje Kim, one of the prominent hydrogeologists in Korea, has made various contributions to the international groundwater community as a member of the IAH Council.

 

IAH has high expectations for the newly appointed Vice President that he will play a major role in establishing new national chapters in Asia and promoting new member recruitments and academic activities.

 

In particular, the international networks with UNESCO International Earth Science Program and the Asian Commission on Geoscience and Mineral Resources (CCOP), where Vice President Kim has been active in solving the problem of groundwater pollutions and its sustainable development in Asia.

 

Dr. Yongje Kim said, “It is an honor to be appointed as the Vice President representing Asia at the world’s most prestigious academic society in the field of groundwater. And, I believe the K-Geoscience will devote resolving issues in the global groundwater field.”

 

 ※ IAH (International Association of Hydrogeologists): IAH was established in 1957 after the 1st general meeting in Paris, France. IAH is the worldwide most prestigious groundwater organization in efforts of the proper management and conservation of groundwater in research for the public interest.
