Meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and KIGAM Delegation

The KIGAM delegation (Headed by Dr. Kwang-Eun Kim, Acting President) had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Roman Sklyar of Kazakhstan in Seoul on October 21, 2021. The meeting was arranged by the request from the Kazakhstan Embassy in Korea.

Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar began the meeting emphasizing that cooperation with Korea on mineral resource development is the first priority among many cooperative areas between the two countries. In particular, he promised that the Kazakhstan government will fully support the future cooperation with KIGAM.

In response, Acting President Kwang-eun Kim explained that KIGAM is also very much interested in the development of mineral resources in Kazakhstan, especially lithium, nickel, and rare metals necessary for the production of secondary batteries. He added that KIGAM has secured excellent technologies for mineral resource development from resource exploration to beneficiation and smelting so that KIGAM is already ready to cooperate with Kazakhstan. By the Deputy Prime Minister’s request, KIGAM delegation had a further discussion with Chairman Talgat Satiyev, Geological Committee of Kazakhstan right after the meeting who is designated as the counterpart for the cooperation between the two sides.
