Meeting between the Kazakhstan Embassy and KIGAM

Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM, Acting President Dr. Kwang-Eun Kim) had a meeting with the Kazakhstan Embassy on November 1, 2021. The Kazakhstan delegation was led by Mr. Bakyt Dyussenbayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Today’s meeting was called upon Kazakhstan's side to push forward the work-level talk between the two parties. And, it was the follow-up from the high-level talk between Kazakhstan and Korea two weeks ago.

The meeting was held in KIGAM for elaborating on the previous talk about mineral R&D cooperation. Both sides agreed on the importance of developing the key metal resources for the Kazakhstan industry and economy.

In response, Vice President Kim emphasized that KIGAM has great interests as well as state-of-the-art technologies for mineral resource developments in lithium, nickel, and rare metals for secondary batteries productions, which is the foundation of a carbon-neutralize/ or carbon-free future.

He also explained that KIGAM is already ready to cooperate with Kazakhstan because KIGAM has already secured state-of-the-art technologies for mineral resource development from mineral explorations to cutting-edge technologies in beneficiation and smelting.

Mr. Dyussenbayev and Dr. Kim hoped that mineral R&D cooperation initiates mutual economic/industrial benefits for both countries, and will be the cornerstone to expand the other areas of cooperation progressively.

Both sides also strongly agreed that the future cooperative R&D efforts between KIGAM and Kazakhstan will bring us good results, as well as shall lead to mutual benefits to our both countries respectively.
