MOU Signing Ceremony between KIGAM and TAMER SPACE

Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM, President Dr. Pyeong-Koo Lee) signed a Memorandum of Understanding(hereinafter referred to as "MOU") with Tamer Space to cooperate in the field of space technology on September 16, 2022. As the Founder and Director of Tamer Space, LLC, Dr. Robert W. Moses, visited KIGAM to attend the signing ceremony.

Based on the bilateral MOU between KIGAM and Tamer Space, KIGAM and Tamer Space agreed to pursue research cooperation in the fields of Planetary Resource Prospecting & Utilization (PRPU), especially on the Moon and Mars.

The scope of cooperation includes calculating, exploring and processing mineral resources in outer space, developing instruments for space mining such as rovers dedicated to PRPU tasks, Planetary in-situ resource utilization, and developing Lunar Navigation and Mapping.

Dr. Pyeong-Koo Lee, the President of KIGAM said that "Mars Terraforming by using resources from the Moon is not fiction." Also, he added that "as we are welcoming an age of space, KIGAM will spare no effort to take the lead in developing geoscience technology and human resources development for the next growth engine of the Republic of Korea."
