Visit of LSA & ESRIC to KIGAM

Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA) and European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC) visited Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) on November 29, 2022 for 'Joint Collaboration on Space Resources Exploration'. The visit was for some discussion on carrying forward collaboration research between KIGAM and ESRIC on the development of resources on the Moon and Mars.

ESRIC is the European center of excellence in Luxembourg for scientific, technical, commercial and economic aspects related to the exploitation of space resources, established in 2020. ESRIC is funded and supported by LSA, and managed and hosted by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).

Based on this meeting between KIGAM and LSA & ESRIC, cooperation with Luxembourg will be an important first step to push ahead with future oriented development of space resources, which is a common cause for both sides.

Dr. Pyeong-Koo Lee, a President of KIGAM, said that " Cooperation with Luxembourg, one of spacefaring nations in Europe with an excellent reputation, will enable us to take leadership in the fields of space resources exploration on the Moon and Mars. Although the Republic of Korea is a resource-poor nation on the earth, we will be able to be a resource-rich nation in space by enhancing technological capabilities of space resources development."
