Meeting between KIGAM and Korea AeroSpace Administration(KASA)

Mr. John Lee, Vice Administrator of the Mission Directorates of the Korea AeroSpace Administration(KASA), visited KIGAM on January 9 along with staff members from KASA.

 

The meeting involved sharing updates on KIGAM’s activities, research progress of the Space Resources Exploration and Utilization Center, key achievements, and the results of the lunar gamma-ray spectrometer currently conducting its mission in lunar orbit. The two sides also discussed future opportunities for cooperation.

Mr. John Lee emphasized the importance of international cooperation in space resource development to realize Korea’s space economy master plan. He added, “I hope KIGAM will continue to play a pivotal role in achieving Korea’s space economy by leveraging its research achievements in space resource development and its expertise in ultra-light payload development.”

In response, Dr. Pyeong-Koo Lee, President of KIGAM reaffirmed KIGAM’s commitment to close cooperation with KASA to propel Korea into becoming a leading space power, particularly in the development and application of space resource technologies.

 

The visit concluded with a lab tour showcasing KIGAM’s research facilities for lunar resource extraction, including technologies for lunar lander payload development and lunar in-situ resource utilization.
