RESEARCH DIVISION Battery Recycling Research Group
Introduction
The Battery Recycling Research Group investigates technologies to recover metal from waste lithium-ion batteries or to produce raw materials for battery manufacturing through eco-friendly processes. The group creates a resource circulation system that reproduces high-purity raw materials from waste batteries and supplies them as battery manufacturing raw materials.
Major Activities

- Development of source technology and core materials for eco-friendly electrochemical recovery system
- Innovative technology for recycling waste batteries using rare metal separation and purification technology (recovery of more than 98%)
- Development of commercial process for recycling battery pack for electric vehicles (2021 National R&D Excellence)
